Am I eligible for an education license?

Educational licenses are available to universities, colleges and other institutions of higher education that award bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degrees, and where the software is used by students as part of their course or project work.

What is the educational version of EFD?

The educational versions of EFD – FloEFD.V5, FloEFD.Pro and FloEFD are identical to those used within industry. These are all full versions of EFD, with no restrictions on the physical models available or the mesh size.

Can I get an evaluation copy?

Yes, provided you’re a faculty member we can provide a 3-month evaluation copy free-of-charge. Just fill out the request form for an evaluation and we’ll email you a license agreement to sign and fax back so we can send you instructions on how to download the software.

How can I teach EFD on my Undergraduate and Graduate courses?

For teaching we provide a suite of EFD license keys locked to a central server. The software comes with a set of fully-documented textbook style example cases which you can easily build into your course curriculum.

Can I use EFD in my research?

Yes, provided the research is both non-commercial and is being carried out within a degree-granting higher educational institution, for example as part of a masters or doctoral degree or as publicly funded post-doctoral research. We request that you acknowledge the EFD product used and version in any publications.

We define non-commercial research as internally-funded research, and research funded by public funding bodies being carried out within a degree-granting higher educational institution.

Research undertaken by research institutes that are themselves funded by industry consortia is classed as commercial research. For commercial research please contact your local sales office for a quotation.

How much does EFD cost?

We charge a standard license fee per key for educational use to cover our third-party royalty and administration costs. Educational licenses are for 3 years and are inclusive of software updates and patches. If you need an official quotation, this can be requested in your local currency.

How do I order EFD?

To order the educational version of EFD, complete the quotation request form and we will send you an official quotation.

What if I need support?

We provide access to the support web site, but do not provide telephone or email support for educational licenses unless this is purchased separately. Please contact your local sales office for a quotation for telephone and email support.

I’m a student, can I get my own personal copy of EFD?

No, we do not currently provide personal copies for students.
